In foregrounding the principle of cultural humility, it is imperative that services for First Nations peoples are informed by First Nations perspectives. It can be difficult to review frameworks while working within them, and an external First Nations eye can offer a fresh and culturally grounded assessment.
Our approach is assiduous, thoughtful and non-judgemental. We consider all relevant viewpoints - service design, provision, and sustainability - in our review. Consultation aims to enhance the cultural operations of organisations servicing Mob, and embed principles of culturally safe service provision in the way that support is designed, delivered and evaluated.
We importantly acknowledge that our perspective is rooted in our identity as Western Arrernte women, and therefore our cultural license is specific to the Mparntwe region. We can provide general or Central-specific cultural guidance, and will support connecting with the Traditional Custodians of the lands in which services will be delivered should it be outside of our license.
